2008 City Appointments Approved At its Jan. 9 meeting, the first of 2008, the Centerville City Council made the following official city appointments for the year:
. Acting Mayor: Council Member Tom Lee
. Centerville-Centennial Fire District Steering Committee members: Council members Jeff Paar and Michele Lakso, alternate member Mayor Mary Capra
. Check signing authority: Capra, Lee, Council Member Linda Broussard Vickers and City Administrator Dallas Larson
. North Metro Telecommunications Commission representative: Lakso, alternate member Paar
. Police Commissioners: Capra, Lee, alternate member Paar
. Rush Line Corridor: Capra
. I-35 W/E Coalition representative: Larson
. Council Weed Inspector: Capra Park Rules Language Added To Code Council approved the Parks and Recreation Committee's recommendation to add language related to city park rules to the city Code.
The additions add the language "no fishing, no swimming, no boat launching where posted" and "no glass or containers" at city parks to the city regulations. The committee's recommendations also specifi ed which rules the committee would like to see posted at city parks.
In other action, the council:
. Approved a request for assistance by the city's Public Works Department in snowplowing the Waterworks parking lot during the 26th annual Lions Club ice fishing contest, to be held Feb. 9.
. Approved the relocation of a power line from Main Street to the south side of Heritage Street. "We need to move [the powerline] to a place where it doesn't interfere with downtown redevelopment," Larson told the council.
. Authorized Finance Director John Meyer to transfer funds from one city general ledger account to another. The transfer will close out an inactive account.
. Approved the Parks and Recreation Committee's recommendation to purchase/install a Dogi-Pot pet station at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park for an amount not to exceed $300.
