The Centerville City Clerk posted in the city's vestibule on March 26 a notice of a joint meeting of the Centerville City Council, the Parks and Recreation Committee, and the Planning and Zoning Commission scheduled for TONIGHT, Wednesday, April 2 at 7 p.m. immediately following the Parks and Recreation Committee meeting set for 6 p.m.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the city's 2008 Goals and Objectives, the city's Comprehensive Plan, Hidden Spring Park, Code Enforcement/Complaints, the Open Meeting Law, Data Practices, the Code of Ethics, and other topics that may arise. As always, the meeting is open to the public unless otherwise specifi cally noticed.

In other action at its March 26 meeting, the city council:

. Accepted a resignation letter from building inspector Joel McPherson, eff ective April 4. City administrator Dallas Larson told council members city staff would discuss how and whether to fill the position.

. Deferred discussion on the subjects of a project coordinator/ inspector position and a draft ordinance for deferment of special assessments to a future workshop session. The agenda items had been postponed from a previous workshop session.

. Approved a request from Ground Development, Inc. requesting permission to reduce financial security to the minimum permitted on the Pheasant Marsh 3rd Addition.

. Agreed to re-issue to Sager's Bar and Grill a liquor, tobacco and 2 a.m. license trading under the new name of Kelly's.

. Approved a request from the Centerville Lions for funding to the tune of $19,000 toward the 2008 Fête Des Lacs Festival.

Members had previously asked the city attorney to investigate whether it was appropriate for the city to fund all the items proposed by the Lions Club, but the attorney assured council there was no legal reason why funding should not be granted.
