Council Adopts Order Of Succession
At its meeting of January 27, the Centerville City Council discussed and passed a resolution appointing an acting mayor and the order of succession “during the disability or absence of the Mayor of the City of Centerville.”
Individual council members will serve as acting mayor in successive order of their seniority in office, the resolution states. Seniority is calculated from the earliest date of continuous service, beginning on the date each council member assumed office.
The resolution will renew annually until superseded.
In other action, the council:
• Opted not to waive the monetary limits on municipal liability established by statute, consistent with the recommendation of City Attorney Kurt Glaser.
• Met in closed session to discuss pending litigation concerning the acquisition of land parcels for the city’s 2010 trail project.
