FOREST LAKE - Twenty-four members of 11 District 5M7 Lions Clubs milled about the Forest Lake City Hall parking lot two weeks ago sporting iridescent green hard hats and reflective vests.

No, they weren’t waiting for a bus.

They were waiting for a tornado—a theoretical one, at least.

In 1948, he began the Minnesota tradition of the Governor’s Fishing Opener.

What started as a tourism promotion effort has now become a community affair for all anglers … especially the children.
