HUGO - Forty-two area businesses set up tables at Hugo Kidz 'n Biz 2008. As the rain began outside, the Oneka Elementary gym was packed: an estimated 1,500 people came to mingle, get acquainted, and have a lot of fun.

Magic Norm made balloon hats for delighted children

Toys and prizes were a hit with the children, but the aft ernoon was full of contests, carnival games, fire truck tours, refreshments, and - of course - a chocolate chip cookie bake-off.

Gearing Up For The Season

The Openers Are Right Around The Corner.

With heavy hearts last fall, many of us put our gear in the corner of the garage and dreamed of spring openers.

If we had been smart, we would have cleaned out the tackle box before we put it away.

But, since a number of us didn't, now is the time, not the weekend before the mid-May openers for walleye, pike, sauger, and lake trout.

Face it, last summer's grime did not magically disappear over the winter, and that dampness from the last trip to the water's edge likely has created light rust. Find an aft ernoon before the seasons start to clean fishing gear and organize that tackle box.
