Concert Band Plays For The Suburbs

Special Halloween Concert Scheduled

Many people have cheerful memories of playing music with their high school band. Perhaps those favorite band memories involve taking a trip overseas, or fr iendships developed during rehearsals and band tours. Whatever those memories of band may be, they are likely to be happy ones.

Martin Perkins, a Hugo resident and Public Relations Chair of the North Suburban Concert Band wants people to know "they don't have to give up their instruments aft er high school."

The North Suburban Concert Band will present a concert as part of the Anoka Halloween Festival and Costume Contest which will be held on Saturday, October 20 at 3 p.m. at the Anoka Technical College auditorium, 1355
West Highway 10, in Anoka.

Furry Or Finny, The Animals - And Their Owners - Came

St. Francis of Assisi Feast Day Celebrated

Furry, finny or funky - the creatures' outer coverings didn't matter to area pastors as they commemorated the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi by holding Blessing of the Animals services.

Born circa 1181, St. Francis, who founded the Franciscan Order, is honored by the Catholic and other churches as the Patron Saint of Animals and Ecology.

Scandia resident Jane Sells presented llamas Val and E’linda to Pastor Jillene Gallatin of Elim Lutheran
Church for a blessing.
