Camp Noah Helps Kids Play And Heal After Tornado

HUGO - As parents struggle through insurance claims, home repairs, and getting life back to normal in the wake of the Hugo tornado, children aff ected by the disaster have also been working through the experience.

Two weeks ago, 58 children came together at Camp Noah, a weeklong faith-based day camp for children who have been aff ected by disaster, to help begin processing through the tornado aft ermath.

The curriculum for Camp Noah is based on the story of Noah and the flood, and was developed by Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota.

Each morning, children at Camp Noah broke into age groups and spent some time outside. The youngest campers had fun playing parachute games out on the lawn behind Oneka Elementary School. Grant, age 5, almost got stuck underneath the chute during a colors and running game
with the other kindergarten and first grade students. Older participants ran relay races and played “Noah Says” during some of their recreational
time./>
