Renewal Of Marriage & Old St. Joe's Go Hand-In-Hand
LINO LAKES - Lino Lakes residents Mary and Les Trombley celebrated more than just their 50th wedding anniversary mass at historic St. Joseph's Catholic Church a little over two weeks ago.
On that sunny morning, together with family and friends, the couple also celebrated the renewal of one of the oldest structures in Anoka County.

St. John's CCW Hosts Book Presentation
HUGO - In the way that a quilt block can preserve a snippet of family history, author Ann Zemke introduced a very real piece of Minnesota history - the orphan train - to her audience at St. John's Catholic Church in Hugo on October 8. Orphan trains were begun by the Children's Aid Society 5 years before Minnesota became a state; Marjorie Peterson, Zemke's grandmother, was one of its later riders. Hosted by St. John's Council of Catholic Women (CCW), the event featured Zemke's book, "They Named Me Marjorie," which was based on Peterson's life story. Zemke intrigued the audience with compelling storytelling of her grandmother's life through her handmade quilt and her newly published novel.
