LAKE ELMO - Retirement.

For many folks in their later 60s and 70s, leaving the work force means having time to indulge in a favorite hobby, travel a bit and otherwise slow down the pace of life.

Not so for Shirley Crane of Hugo. Retirement has meant more.

More time to do more things for more people.

"You have to keep busy.. it's what keeps you young," she will tell you.

Hugo resident Shirley Crane was named “Outstanding Senior Citizen” at the Washington County Fair last month. She was presented with a sash and certifi cate for the female honor at the August 3 Senior Day ceremony.
