Christmas Cookies

Many families have a holiday tradition where they get together, make cookies and give them as Christmas gifts. Here are a few favorites.

Nut Sticks

Mix pie crust, sugar, egg and vanilla, blend well, mix in nuts. Shape dough into small balls; roll balls between palms of hands to form thin sticks 2 inches long. Arrange on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in preheated oven at 350 until golden - about 20 minutes. Remove; while warm, roll in confectioner's sugar. Store loosely covered. Makes about 50.

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Preheat oven to 375 degrees; sift flour, salt and baking soda and set aside. Cream together the butter, sugar, peanut butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla and milk. Add the flour mixture; mix well. Shape into 40 balls and place each into an ungreased mini muffin pan. Bake for about 8 minutes. Remove from oven, immediately press a mini peanut butter cup into each ball. Cool and carefully remove from pan. Can substitute Hershey's kisses for mini chocolate peanut butter cups.
