Contingency Operating Base (COB) Speicher, near
Tikrit, Iraq

Former Hugo resident and First Lieutenant Neal Sivula, Maintenance Control Officer for the 277th Aviation Support Battalion at Contingency Operating Base (COB) Speicher, near Tikrit, Iraq, stands in the base motor pool and catches up on a little hometown news. “It’s good to get the newspaper from back home just to know what’s going on somewhere,” Sivula wrote in his e-mail. “I have a great time doing my job and taking care of Soldiers. And if I look straight up, I can’t see any sand!” Thanks for keeping in touch, Neal!

Alaska cruise

Doug and Kay Blanchard of Hugo took a magnificent Alaska cruise during the first week in June, and had “perfect weather the whole week,” Doug said. “We’ve already started saving for our next cruise!” We’ll hope the Blanchards have put a copy of The Citizen in their suitcase for next time, so we can go along!
