How Far Will You Go

To Read The Citizen?

Husaybah, Iraq

Hugo resident Lt. Colonel Larry White, U. S. Marine Corps, writes, "I recently received a care package from home containing a copy of The Newspaper. Attached is a photo of me reading the paper in Husaybah, Iraq." Okay, Larry, you win! Yours is officially the very first photo sent to us from Iraq. For our readers, Husaybah is about 2 kilometers east of the Syrian border on the south bank of the Euphrates River.

Finksburg, Maryland

The Houle family caught up on a little hometown news in Finksburg, Maryland last month: Twins Audrey and Charlotte, 15 mo., Avery, 5, and Lydia, 3, appear to be completely captivated by the stories read by Papa Brent. We're guessing their mother, Keli, took the photo! Thanks for bringing us along, everyone.

Canterbury Downs

"The Derby Girls" drove all the way to Canterbury Downs in Shakopee for the Kentucky Derby horse race on May 6, and brought us along! The Derby is known for its mint juleps and large, fancy hats. Sherry Knollmaier, Linda Schultz, Michele Anderson, Deb Ricci, Robin Brown and Barb Schoenthaler, all from the Hugo/Centerville area, enjoyed the race and caught up on the news.
