It was Memorial Day Weekend 2008, and by late Sunday afternoon, May 25, weather forecasters knew a storm was brewing. Amateur ham radio operator and volunteer SkyWarn stormspotter Matt Todd of Hugo was in White Bear Township at a baseball game, keeping one eye on the darkening northwest skies, where he remembers noting “a lot of rotation.”
Then the sirens went off.

Hugo Council Chastises Flea Market Proponents’ “Back-Door” Approach
HUGO - At its May 4 meeting, Hugo City Council members slammed the operators of the proposed downtown Good Times Flea Market for their apparent attempt to open the market for business without going through proper city channels.
“I don’t like doing business with people who do these types of things,” said Council Member Phil Klein. Klein also serves as the Vice President of the Hugo’s Economic Development Authority.
