City To Remedy Problem Of Inadequate Published Notice

CENTERVILLE - A record turnout of residents made their voices heard on the subject of home values April 9, even though the city did not meet statutory notice requirements for the hearing.

About 30 citizens showed up at Centerville City Hall for the Board of Appeal and Equalization hearing to explain to the Anoka County Assessor's office why they felt their valuations were out of line.

CENTERVILLE - Even Maggie the dog was riveted as 60 citizens gathered in a front yard to discuss their battle plan.

It was standing room only at the residents' meeting, held on April 5 in a front yard on Mill Road to bring people together in their opposition to the city's 2009 Street Improvement Project, the second part of a two-part reconstruction eff ort that began in 2004.

Consortium Moves Ahead On YMCA Market Study

City Of Hugo To Contribute $2,000

HUGO - The process that could result in a new YMCA opening in the northeast metro area continues to move forward.

On April 7 the Hugo City Council approved the expenditure of $2,000 to help fund a market feasibility study that will explore the demand for such a facility in the region.The study "will help us quantify and understand the feasibility of doing the project," said Tom Holland, Executive Director of Northeast Family YMCA in White Bear Lake.

Lovett Accepts Superintendent's Job

Front Yard Meeting Sees Large Turnout

WHITE BEAR LAKE - The White Bear Lake School Board announced last week that Dr. Michael Lovett has accepted the offer to become the next superintendent for the White Bear Lake Area School District. Contract negotiations are underway.

Lovett, one of two finalists for the post that Ted Blaesing is leaving after 15 years, is currently assistant superintendent of the Minnetonka School District. He was also a finalist in the BurnsvilleEagan-Savage School District's superintendent search earlier this month.
