HUGO - In the latest development in a long-term struggle to determine the best way to deal with a heavily used gravel road, a dozen residents living on or near Goodview Avenue south of Hugo’s city limit have petitioned the City of Grant and White Bear Township to close the road at the Washington/Ramsey county line.

The high winds and torrential rains that struck Lino Lakes, Centerville and Hugo in the late evening hours of Monday, August 13, 2007 wreaked significant damage on area homes, including Lessard’s.
Her home, located in Lino Lakes’ Clearwater Creek development just east of I-35E, sustained considerable roof damage. A licensed contractor came knocking soon after.

Relocation Of Storage/Maintenance facility Planned
HUGO - Despite falling residential property values, the city of Hugo will see its sixth consecutive decrease in the urban tax rate in 2009, according to a presentation made by Finance Director Ron Otkin to the Hugo City Council on Sept. 2.
“I think it’s terrific that we’re able to balance our budget and have another year of property tax decrease,” said Council Member Chuck Haas.Otkin proposed that the city set its preliminary 2009 tax levy at $5,329,096, an increase of $139,498 as compared with the 2008 levy of $5,189,598. Aft er Otkin’s presentation, council approved a resolution setting the preliminary tax levy in accordance with the Finance Director’s proposal.
