Move Over American Idol—Area Businesses Sponsor Kids’ Karaoke Contest
HUGO - In their quest to become the next “Hugo Idol,” over a dozen kids stepped up to the microphone at Sertino’s Café on Friday, March 27.
Kids as young as three participated in the karaoke contest, singing everything from “Jesus Loves Me” (acappella—it wasn’t on the playlist) to “The Best of Both Worlds” by Hannah Montana, prompting smiles from the judges and tears from a few parents.

HUGO - With the cities of Grant and Hugo, White Bear Township, and Washington County unable to reach an agreement that would launch a Goodview Avenue improvement project, some local residents are trying to take matters into their own hands by petitioning for Washington and Ramsey counties to order an improvement project on the short, often impassable stretch of road located in Grant that accommodates considerable traffic from Hugo.

No Word Yet On State Audit Costs
CENTERVILLE – Although the City of Centerville isn’t quite sure how big the 2009 budget funding gap is going to be, one council work session on the topic has already been held.
City Administrator Dallas Larson is getting the city’s ducks in a row to meet the shortfall, which he says may be as high as $120,000, or almost 5 percent of the city budget, set at $2,604,320 last December.
