Impact On Centerville Project Schedules Yet Unknown

HUGO / CENTERVILLE - The 2010 filing period for city offices in the cities of Hugo and Centerville begins on Tuesday, August 3 and ends on Tuesday, August 17, 2010. On the last day, affidavits of candidacy will be accepted until 5 p.m. at both city halls; the filing fee is $2.

The general election will take place on Tuesday, November 2, 2010.

In both Centerville and Hugo, three offices are up for grabs: two-year terms for mayor, and two 4-year term council seats.

In Centerville, seats occupied by Mayor Mary Capra and council members Linda Broussard Vickers and D. Love, who was appointed to take Council Member Tom Lee’s position when he resigned last September, will be filled as a result of the election.

In Hugo, seats currently occupied Mayor Fran Miron and council members Becky Petryk (Ward 1) and Chuck Haas (Ward 3) will be decided by the election.

Through the two-week filing period, affidavits of candidacy for city office will be accepted at Centerville City Hall (1880 Main Street) during normal business hours, 7:30 a.m. through 4 p.m. In Hugo, affidavits of candidacy for city office will be accepted at Hugo City Hall (14669 Fitzgerald Ave. N.) during normal business hours, 8 a.m. through 4:30 p.m.
