Hugo Residents Raise Their Voices At City Hall; Centerville Storm Damage Angers Residents
The noise of the hail storm outside was complemented by a verbal storm inside Hugo City Hall on the night of August 13, the result of a public hearing meant to solicit citizen input on proposed changes to the city's Open Space Preservation Program.
Enough residents spoke to fill the entire three-hour hearing from start to finish, with opinion divided between those who support some version of the ordinance and those who want to see the ordinance abolished altogether.

That was the sentiment of folks in the Hugo-Centerville area the morning aft er two vicious storms ripped through several central Minnesota counties - Washington and Anoka among them.
The storm system that spawned the havoc began with the sounding of the siren system in Centerville aft er 7:30 p.m., heard by recreationalists in the Rice Creek Regional Campground on Centerville Lake. Lino Lakes 77th Street W Project Voted Down
"An assured path to the realignment of 77th Street."
That's all Lino Lakes Council Member Jeff Reinert wanted at the August 13 council session before he would vote to approve the sale of city-owned land to Greg Anderson Development Inc. The Anderson proposal blueprints a combination of medical and other professional office space with a retail component on city property on Lake Drive north of 77th Street.
