Centerville Store Owners Say business Is Down Dramatically
CENTERVILLE - "Save our stores!" That's the message from business owners along Main Street as the effect of the CSAH 14 construction project really begins to bite.
Some store owners say business is down by as much as 70 percent since the detour, which by-passes many of Centerville's small businesses along Main Street, came into force last month.
The Centerville City Council has responded to the crisis by making it the subject of the first meeting of its newly formed Economic Development Authority (EDA), which took place on Wednesday, Nov. 14.

P&Z Recommends Denial Of Zoning Change
LINO LAKES - The Lino Lakes City Council has been pursuing a proposed revision to the city's Zoning Ordinance to help residents obtain reverse mortgages.
However, at its Nov. 14 meeting, the Planning & Zoning Commission recommended against adoption of the ordinance change, which was scheduled for a first reading at last Monday's council meeting.

Argument between Staff Member And Residents Documented by Deputy
HUGO - An altercation outside council chambers during the Nov. 5 City Council meeting resulted in a sheriff 's report and some harder feelings between a member of city staff and a group of people who are frequent and outspoken critics of Hugo's current council and city staff.
During the meeting, City Administrator Mike Ericson stepped out of council chambers and into the lobby of City Hall.

How Will DnR's Land Acquisition Impact Landowners?
HUGO - The City of Hugo has a history of confl ict with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources over the Paul Hugo Farms Wildlife Management Area in which Rice Lake, a destination for many Twin Cities hunters, is located.
On Nov. 19, however, a step was taken toward a cooperative effort in developing a common vision for the area. The Hugo City Council approved a motion expressing preliminary support of a plan that would officially define the DNR's long-range plans for its WMA, and recognize the city's important role in mitigating potential land use confl icts as the area around the WMA develops.
