That moment of truth arrived last week at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 26 when the city of Lino Lakes opened bids on the I-35W/ Lake Drive Interchange project.

Hugo Council Extends Planning Commission Deadline
At its April 16 meeting, the Hugo City Council debated whether a moratorium should be imposed on the city's controversial Rural and Open Space Preservation Program, but ultimately decided to table further discussion for 45 days, during which time the Planning Commission is expected to complete its review of the ordinance before presenting its recommendations to the council.
Upon the enactment of a moratorium, new development applications under the ordinance would not be accepted for up to a year, at which time the moratorium could be extended.

Considering Centerville's modest size, the city and its civic groups seem to host more than their share of unique events that draw people from all across the northern suburbs.
Two months ago, it was the ice-fishing contest; in the summer, it will be Fête des Lacs, which this year happens to be rolled in with the city's sesquicentennial celebrations; and, on May 11 and 12, it will be the city's 15th annual Garage Sale Days.

25-Year Clock Won't Start Until District Is Certified
Following the closure of a lengthy public hearing on the proposed downtown Tax Increment Financing District on April 16, members of the Hugo City Council passed a series of resolutions moving the downtown TIF District forward. Council members also took the opportunity to explain their support for the redevelopment strategy in the wake of a number of comments made by residents critical of the city's position on the issue. The public hearing had been continued from April 2 to April 16 to allow all individuals to speak.
