Downtown Redevelopment Project Start Delayed

CENTERVILLE - Changes are afoot in Centerville, but the future of the downtown redevelopment project looks uncertain.

In the last few days and weeks, colored concrete in five shades (russet, golden maize, Roman tile, chicory spice and Etruscan tile) has been poured to mark crossings at the intersections of Progress and Centerville roads with Main Street, and new street lighting has been erected along Main Street.

As Centerville’s downtown streetscaping materialized last week, the CSAH 14 detour sign was about to
disappear—most would hope—forever: Main Street north of downtown Centerville opened to traffic last
Friday afternoon for the first time since last fall.

Petitioners Propose To Change The City’s Charter

LINO LAKES - An 11th hour petition by Lino Lakes residents requesting a significant city charter change has amassed enough signatures to head for the general election ballot this November.

The petition, which initially fell short on signatures, mustered enough momentum on the second round of signature-gathering to mandate that the City Council send the matter to a city-wide vote in the upcoming November election.

Hugo To Collaborate On New Forest Lake Senior Housing Complex

Almost 300 Senior Housing Units Part Of “Regional” Project

HUGO - On August 18, the Hugo City Council approved a resolution allowing Walker Methodist to utilize $10 million of the city of Hugo’s bonding authority for the purpose of financing a non-profit senior housing complex in the Headwaters Development of Forest Lake just north of the Hugo city border.

“There’s a tremendous need [for senior housing] here right now, and we’re fortunate to have an organization like Walker Methodist come in and provide this service in the area,” said Mayor Fran Miron.

Purchase Agreement For Water Tower Site Moves Ahead

Petitioners Propose To Change The City’s Charter

HUGO - At its August 18 meeting, the Hugo City Council approved a purchase agreement with Bosch Holdings LLP for property that the city intends to use as the site for a new water tower and well.

“I’m satisfi ed that [the purchase] is an appropriate expense at an appropriate site at this time,” said Council Member Chuck Haas.

The property, located east of Highway 61 along 125th Street, is 6 acres in size, and is divided between approximately 2 acres of wetland and 4 acres of upland, the latter portion of the property being where the city envisions the new water tower to be located.
