Charter Commission To Extend Review
LINO LAKES - Do the residents of Lino Lakes support a proposed change to the city's charter that would eliminate the mandatory city-wide road project referendum?
Are residents opposed to proposed changes that would limit the control they currently have over improvement projects in town?
It appears that we won't find out this fall. At a meeting held Thursday, August 23, the Lino Lakes Charter Commission unanimously agreed to extend its review period of a proposed city charter amendment beyond the initial 60-day period for an additional 90 days.

The coronation of the 54th Princess Kay of the Milky Way was about to take place, and the red benches of the Leinie Lodge Bandshell on the Minnesota State Fairgrounds were filled with friends and family members of twelve young regional dairy princesses, all finalists for the title, waiting to take the stage.

Bid Awarded, CR 14 Construction Set To Begin
LINO LAKES - Construction on the massive County Road 14 reconstruction project is finally set to begin after the Anoka County Board awarded the construction contract on August 28 to North Pine Aggregate for the amount of $16,298,910.64.
"We will be setting up a pre-construction conference with con-tractor, [and] we will be getting a schedule from [North Pine] shortly on when they will be starting and how the project will progress," said Anoka County Engineer Doug Fischer, adding that construction will begin around mid-September.

HUGO & LINO LAKES - For years, Hugo residents were resigned to driving to White Bear Lake or Forest Lake to take care of those commonplace, everyday errands. Folks who lived in Lino Lakes drove to Circle Pines or Shoreview.
A common remark in passing was, "If only we had a dry cleaners in town!" It now appears from the construction activity currently taking place on the border between Lino Lakes and Hugo that more businesses are coming to the community.
