Pharmacy Could Be Just Around The Corner – Literally
HUGO - It appears that the Northern Lights Pediatrics Clinic building located on the southwest corner of Victor Hugo Boulevard and Frenchman Road (CSAH 8) may still be on track to open in 2008. And it may eventually bring a needed pharmacy to town.
The building, which has sat empty for months because of ongoing litigation between two health care providers and a developer, was the subject of mediated discussion that took place on July 7.

New Ordinances, Maintenance Among Tools In Use
HUGO / CENTERVILLE / LINO LAKES - As home foreclosure rates continue to rise in some cities, others are seeing the numbers level off in 2008.
But a number of area suburbs are taking decisive steps to make sure that foreclosed homes don’t fall into a state of disrepair, lowering area property values and constituting an invitation to vandalism.
This is easier said than done; at a housing workshop held on May 20, Hugo city staff members told council members that sometimes the occupants of foreclosed homes simply walk out. In winter months, if the water is not shut off properly, this can lead to frozen pipes and major damage to the home during spring thaw.

CENTERVILLE - Next year’s budget looks set to include a $25,000 fund designated for future road projects.
That was the tentative message which came out of a work session held immediately aft er the Centerville City Council’s regular meeting July 23.
City council members were split over exactly how much to put into the fund in the 2009 budget, the fi rst year (in recent times, at least) in which a dedicated amount will have been set aside.

HUGO - The Hugo Tornado Relief Fund and donations from a number of other sources now total over $422,000 as of last week, city of Hugo Long Term Recovery Coordinator Nate Ehalt told The Citizen.
“We are currently helping 47 families with their losses,” Ehalt said.
