CUP Amendment Approved For Molin Concrete
A conditional use permit amendment was approved 4-0 by the Lino Lakes City Council at its meeting of May 29 to permit Molin Concrete, 415 Lilac Street, to construct a 7,785 square foot office building at their existing facility.
Council Member Jeff Reinert was absent.
The two-phase project will include the building and associated site work initially; wetland mitigation/enhancement will be constructed at a later date when an addition to the manufacturing building is built as planned. The request before the council only included phase one.
A public hearing was held May 9 by the Planning & Zoning Board, which recommended approval with conditions.
Endorsement Given For Fire Code Variance
Council members unanimously endorsed the request by Chad Wagner, owner of Miller's On Main, for a variance to the state fire code for a special event during Blue Heron Days. Miller's On Main traditionally holds a music tent event; state fire code requires a setback distance of 20 feet from the tent stakes to the property line to provide for ease of evacuation should attendees need to leave the tent in an emergency.
In this case, the only tent side where the setback is not met does not have an exit door.
The request and evidence of council support was to be forwarded to the State Fire Marshal for consideration on June 11, according to Centennial Fire District Chief Milo Bennett.
In a related matter, council voted 4-0 to grant a special event permit and cabaret license to Miller's On Main for August 17 and 18 during the Blue Heron Days celebration. Special conditions include: the presence of two uniformed Lino Lakes police officers from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. in addition to private security officers; limitations on the number of persons based on state fire code requirements; the monitoring of noise levels by the LLPD; and proof of liability insurance, in addition to other requirements.
In other action, the council:
. Approved an application by St. Joseph's Church for a temporary 3.2 beer license, cabaret license and exemption for gambling permit for the annual church festival, August 11-12.
. Approved a permit for the sale of consumer fireworks at Super Target, located at 749 Apollo Drive.
. Voted 4-0 to adopt Resolution 07-78 renewing all liquor, wine, beer and dance licenses within the city following LLPD background and compliance checks.
All such licenses expire on June 30. Most of the licenses require review by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Alcohol and Gambling Division.
. Approved a variance to setback for a covered porch addition at 8020 Danube Street. A 3-foot encroachment is allowed; 4.5 feet was requested.
