Annual Board Appointments Made
At its regularly scheduled meeting on Jan. 26, the Lino Lakes City Council approved the following Advisory Board appointments for 2009 by a 3-0 vote (Council members Kathi Gallup and Dan Stoltz were absent): Pamela Taschuk and William Kusterman were both appointed to the Park & Recreation Board; Paul Tralle and new appointee Elizabeth Brady were named to the Planning & Zoning Board; and Paula Andrzejewski was appointed to the Environmental Board, all terms to expire December 31, 2011. Robin Doege was appointed to the Circle Pines Gas Commission as a citizen representative, with a term expiring December 31, 2010. According to City Administrator Gordon Heitke, appointments to the Economic Development Advisory Committee will be made at the next council meeting.
In other action, the council:
• Recognized Lino Lakes Police Officer Tim Ross for his 30 years of service to the city.
• Received a legislative report from Senator Ray Vandeveer and Representative Bob Dettmer.
• Approved a temporary onsale liquor license for the Lino Lakes Lions Club annual prime rib dinner, to be held at St. Joseph’s Church on March 7.
• Accepted the 2009 goals of the Environmental Advisory Board, which include: continuing to monitor the heron rookery and water quality in northern Peltier Lake, and scheduling a number of conservation workshops through the Anoka County Soil & Water Conservation District.
• Approved the 2009 residential recycling program agreement with Anoka County, in which the city will receive $39,700 in SCORE funds.
• Held the first reading of Ordinance No. 01-09, amending the Zoning Ordinance defi nition of the term private kennel, an action required by recent changes to the city’s Animal Ordinance.
