City Insurance Covers Blue Heron Events
In responding to a request by the Blue Heron Days Committee to provide liability insurance for the festival parade and the Lino Lakes Ambassador coronation, at the July 28 council meeting the City Council heard from City Attorney Scott Baumgartner that the citys current insurance policy does not exclude these activities from insurance coverage.
Following review of the events, the hosting groups and location of the various activities, the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust (LMCIT), which insures the city, advised that the parade, ambassador program and coronation, bike rodeo and commerce and craft s events are already covered under the policy.
The bike rodeo and commerce and craft s events are either sponsored by a city agency or are held on city property. Other festival events are insured by the hosting groups.
The council voted to confirm that the city will assume the liability for these particular events.
Formerly, the Lino Lakes Jaycees provided insurance coverage for the festival but the organization no longer exists.
