Hugo Police Reports
It’s A Dog-Eat-Dog World: Deputies were called to a business on Victor Hugo Blvd. N. on March 28 at 6:21 p.m. An employee noticed a man pick up a package of meat and several packages of hot dogs and then walk down an aisle. The suspect emerged from the aisle with only one package of hot dogs. He was confronted and left the store. Employees stopped him in the parking lot and he pulled several packages of hot dogs out of his jacket, then took off on foot.
Tricks of The Trade: On April 1 officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at a business on Forest Blvd. N. A potential customer had taken a vehicle off the lot and not returned, leaving behind the vehicle he arrived in. That vehicle was traced to another business and had been reported stolen one week earlier. Based on the missing vehicle description, officers located the suspect, who pulled over to the side of the road and fled on foot. Deputies caught up with the suspect, who was subsequently arrested for theft of motor vehicle and fleeing on foot.
Something Looks Fishy: Officers responded to 130th St. N. for a report of trespassing on April 1, where it was reported that there were at least 10 cars on the side of the street, and several people were there fishing. Officers arrived and met with a group of 30 people. There was a language barrier, but they indicated that they did not understand the rules. The group left without incident.
Be Careful or You’ll Get Canned!: On April 2 deputies responded to a report of dumpster diving at a business on Victor Hugo Blvd. N. When they arrived, they were told that an employee from a nearby business visits the dumpster daily and digs through it. Officers contacted the suspect who indicated he was only looking for aluminum cans to recycle. Officers advised him that he was trespassing and should stay off the premises.
The Reports: The following thefts were reported:
• 140th St. N. on March 24, several landscaping boulders were reported missing. They are valued at $100-$400 per rock.
• Elmcrest Ave. N. on March 29, theft of mail and possible ID theft were reported. Property Damage: Ten reports of property damage/ vandalism were reported to the Washington County Sheriff ’s Office on April 4.
• Foxhill Ave N. a report of a landscaping rock thrown through the back window of a truck parked in the driveway.
• Foxhill Ave. N. a report of a yard lamp thrown through the window of a vehicle parked on the property.
• 128th St. N. a report of criminal damage to vehicles, including broken windows.
• 128th St. N. a report of broken glass in driveway.
• 126th St. N. a report of a broken window resulting from a yard lamp being thrown through the window. The lamp was identical to another report on Foxhill Ave. N.
• Jeffrey Ave. N. a report of two brick lamp posts at the end of the driveway damaged and the lamps had been removed and smashed on the ground.
• Greystone Ave. N. a report that two lamps at the end of the driveway had been broken off their posts and were missing. They were later identified as the lamps used to vandalize two vehicles.
• Forest Blvd. N. a report of a rear light and driver’s mirror being broken overnight.
• Isleton Ave. N. a report of 3 slashed tires and a broken driver’s side window and mirror. Damage appeared to have been caused by a crowbar.
• Forest Blvd. N. a report of a smashed driver’s side window.
Lino Lakes Police Reports
Lawn Time No See: On March 16 officers responded to a report of theft of a lawn ornament from a yard in the 900 block of 81st St. The theft occurred sometime during the night hours.
Dim Bulb Sighting: Offi cers stopped a vehicle for inoperable headlight in the 6800 block of Lake Dr. on March 26. Aft er further investigation, a 27-year-old Lino Lakes man was found in the trunk of the vehicle. He had an outstanding felony warrant. The driver, a 35- year-old Blaine woman, was arrested for aiding an off ender, displaying tabs issued to another vehicle, attempting to evade motor vehicle tax and no proof of insurance. The passenger, a 40-year-old Blaine woman, was arrested for aiding an offender. All three persons were transported to Anoka County Jail.
High-Five: Offi cers stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 7400 block of Main St. at 2:42 p.m. on March 26. The driver, a 38-year-old man with no permanent address, was subsequently arrested for five outstanding felony warrants, 5th degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, gross misdemeanor false information, driving after revocation, identity theft , and possession of drug paraphernalia. The passenger, a 38- year-old Elk River woman, was arrested for 5th degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property, obstructing the legal process, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both adults were transported to Anoka County Jail for booking.

• 41-year-old Blaine man for 2nd degree DWI and driving after cancellation on March 18
• 25-year-old New Brighton woman for 4th degree DWI on March 19
• 35-year-old Forest Lake woman for 4th degree DWI on March 19
• 35-year-old Crystal man for 2nd degree DWI on March 23
• 29-year-old Little Canada woman for outstanding warrant on March 26
Citations: The following citations were issued by Lino Lakes Police:
• 23-year-old Woodbury man for speeding, possession of drug paraphernalia on March 18
• 18-year-old Inver Grove Heights woman for possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia on March 18
• 29-year-old White Bear Lake woman for driving after suspension and possession of drug paraphernalia on March 22
• 19-year-old Hugo man for speeding, no insurance and possession of a small amount of marijuana on March 24
• 20-year-old Hugo man for possession of drug paraphernalia on March 24
• 37-year-old Duluth woman for driving aft er suspension and expired driver’s license on March 25
• 20-year-old Lino Lakes man for inattentive driving on March 25
