Getting Grilled: On Sept. 3 at 6:48 p.m. a grill fire was reported in the 14000 block of Finale Ave N. Deputies arrived to find a grease fire in the grill located outside near the house. Officers advised the resident to stay away from the grill. The Hugo Fire Department was called.
Who’s the Boss?: On Sept. 3 at 9:15 p.m., an employee reporting for work in the 5700 block of 148th St. N. heard commotion and bashing around inside the business. When officers arrived they discovered a set of keys in the front door. The employee identified the keys as belonging to his boss. A phone call verified that the boss had just left the business and forgot his keys in the lock.
Little Red Corvette, Baby You’re Much Too Fast: A report was made on Sept. 9 at 12:03 p.m. of a suspicious red Corvette parked in the 5600 block of 120th St. N. When the deputy arrived, the car could not be located.
Let there Be Light: On Sept. 8, at 4:33 p.m. in the 14000 block of Generation Ave. N, a contractor discovered 8 missing outdoor light fixtures. The contractor noted that great care was used to remove them, and indicated that the unknown suspect would probably be reusing them. A report was filed.
Between a Rock and a Shard Place: On Sept. 17, at 8:10 a.m. a report was made of vandalism in the 12000 block of Europa Trail. An unknown suspect threw a rock through the rear window of a truck, breaking the glass. Estimated damage was reported to be approximately $480.
Look What The Sheriff Dragged In: Two cars and two motorcycles were seen racing on 130th St. near Hwy 61 on Sept. 16 at 7:03 p.m. Officers were able to locate one of the drivers, a teenage male, and issued a citation.
Check Please: A resident in the 13000 block of Flay Ave. made a report of fraud on Sept. 16, at 7:46 p.m. after attempting to sell a dining room set on Craigslist. com. An unknown suspect indicated a desire to purchase the set. The suspect sent a cashier’s check from Buff alo, NY. The complainant took the cashier’s check to the bank and discovered that it was counterfeit.
The Long (Stop) Arm of the Law: A school bus driver, dropping off children in the 14000 block of Geneva Ave., reported a stop arm violation on Sept. 16 at 9:45 a.m. The bus driver indicated that the suspect was talking on a cell phone and drove right through the stop arm, although he honked in an attempt to get the suspect’s attention. The license plate number was noted and a follow-up letter was sent to the car owner.
Brown Begging It: Someone on 128th Bay N. reported on Sept. 12 that they received a phone call from an unknown suspect, who identified himself as the CEO of UPS. The caller said the complainant owed money, threatened the individual and their family, and told them to send the funds immediately. Caller gave a Jamaican phone number.
Who Let the Dogs Out?: A report was made on Sept. 14 at 8:35 a.m. of loose dogs in the 5500 block of 157th Way N. Officers were able to locate two dogs and contain them. Animal Control was called and a verbal warning was issued.
White (Anti)-Elephant: On Sept. 15, at 9:15 p.m., someone reported vandalism in the 14000 block of Fenway Ave. A mailbox was smashed and white scuffmarks were found at the scene. Complainant indicated that it may have been politically motivated, because of a large presidential campaign sign in the front yard.
Barking up the Wrong Tree: A report of dogs barking on Evergreen Drive N. was made on Sept. 10, at 5:19 p.m. Officers could not hear any barking when they arrived.
Lino Lakes Police Reports
Off (with) the Deep End: Officers responded to a report of damage to property that occurred in the 100 block of Palomino Lane on Sept. 12. Unknown suspect(s) damaged an above-ground pool some time during the night hours.
Not Seeing the Signs: A property damage accident was reported on Sept. 12 at 10:39 p.m. at I-35E and Main St. A vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with another vehicle. The 17-year-old male driver from White Bear Lake was cited for failure to stop. No injuries were reported.
Off Course: Officers responded to a property damage accident that occurred in the 700 block of Apollo Drive on Sept. 13 at 3:34 p.m. A vehicle made an unsafe change of course that resulted in the property damage accident. No injuries were reported.
Face the Music: A complaint of loud music was made on Sept. 14 at 11:02 p.m. in the 6600 block of Pheasant Run. A 19-year-old Lino Lakes male was subsequently cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Penny Pinchers: Officers responded to a report of burglary in the 300 block of Ash Street on Sept. 16 at 11:33 a.m. Unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the vacant house and removed copper and wiring at an unknown time.
