The Cat Came Back: There was a black panther sighting in the swamp area in the 6200 block of 147th St. N. on Jan. 25 at 4:27 p.m.

Not A Mini-Gas Bill: There was a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 15000 block of Europa Ave. N. on Jan. 25 at 8:14 p.m. It turned out that a mini-van had been running for several hours. Deputies could not locate this vehicle upon arrival.

A Brassy Bunch: Officers stopped a vehicle going northbound on Forest Blvd. N. near NRI Recycling at 10:35 a.m. on Jan. 26 for failing to signal. The driver apparently seemed nervous and, upon closer inspection, police found a large amount of brass in the bed of the pick-up. The vehicle's occupants were wanted on a warrant arrest for stolen metal and were taken into custody.

Saving Face: At 9:11 a.m. on Jan. 27 there was a vehicle on the wrong side of the road at Co. Rd. 8 and Hwy. 61; the driver was seen with her hands over her face. This vehicle was gone on deputies' arrival. Soggy Dog In The Bog: An animal concern and public assist were reported at 5:26 p.m. on Jan. 27 at 84 Lumber on Fenway Blvd. N. A water pipe had apparently broken and created a big lake and a dog had been living in the vacant lumberyard. Hugo Public Works was notified.

Cropping The Truth: At 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 29 offi cers pulled over an individual at 130th St. N. and Forest Blvd. N. for a cracked windshield. The driver had been fishing at Bald Eagle Lake and had 12 crappies - two over the legal limit. When the officer noticed this, the individual said that two were from his buddy, who hadn't wanted them. He was given a citation for the windshield, for driving aft er revocation, and for being over the legal fish limit.

Whether (Weather) Or Not: A suspicious loud banging sound was reported at 8:19 p.m. on Jan. 29 in the 15000 block of Falk Dr. N. at a new construction site. Officers on scene were unable to locate anyone and noted that there were high winds at that time.

Found Puppies, Pound Puppies: Some puppies were found in the 7000 block of Oneka Lake Blvd. N. at 9:36 a.m. on Jan. 31. Animal Control was notified.

Have A Heart, Buddy!: There were some suspicious phone calls made to a hair salon on Mercantile Dr. N. at 6:59 p.m. on Jan. 31. The caller named Robbie was asking for Mrs. Valentine and was calling from a blocked number. The manager was concerned and wanted it noted.

A Lumbering Load: A property damage accident occurred in the parking lot of the U.S. Post Office on 150th St. N. at 10:27 a.m. on Feb. 1. A vehicle with some lumber protruding over the tailgate had backed up into another vehicle and caused some damage.

Eying The Register?: An alarm went off at an eye care clinic on Mercantile Dr. N. at 11:03 p.m. on Feb. 2.

Don't Like Change? Leave It Here: A change machine was found at 170th Ave. N. and Elmcrest Ave. N. on Feb. 4 at 10:39 a.m. It was the property of American Amusement Arcade and the bottom had been pried open and the lock drilled. Some construction workers confi rmed the time that it must have been dropped there. A tow was ordered. (Sounds like someone took the candidates' Call for Change a bit too literally!)

Stay Tuned: Officers stopped a vehicle in the 7600 block of Lake Dr. at 3:07 p.m. on Jan. 24 for excessive exhaust noise. The 28-yearold male driver was subsequently also arrested for driving after revocation and not having insurance and transported to jail.

Not Getting The Go-Ahead: An adult male was cited in the 1400 block of I-35W at 8:37 p.m. on Jan. 25 for speed. He also was charged for not having insurance.

Go-pher A New License, Husker: A 26-year-old male was cited on Jan. 27 at 1:43 p.m. in the 700 block of I-35W for possessing an expired Nebraska driver's license and not having a valid Minnesota driver's license.

Not Giving The Green Light: A 31-year-old male was pulled over in the 600 block of Ash St. at 11:43 p.m. on Jan. 31 for not having a license plate light. He was arrested for fourth degree DWI, speed, and crossing the center line.

It Just Bugs?: A juvenile was pulled over in the 2400 block of Main St. at 4:59 p.m. on Feb. 1 for an obstructed windshield. She was arrested for a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and underage possession of alcohol. A seatbelt violation was also noted.
