This Issue's Statistic: Since our last publication, there was one semaphore broken.
Paradise By The Dashboard Lights: On August 23 at 11:43 p.m. someone from the 4000 block of Emmit Dr. N. called to report two people kissing in a car. Police informed the couple that they were being watched by an unknown neighbor and asked that they go somewhere more private.
I-Spy Gumshoeing: A male in a bright-colored shirt attempted to enter a residence in the 14000 block of Forest Blvd. N. at 8:30 p.m. on August 8 and then ran into the bushes. He had thought that the homeowners were out of town and had seen some people in the house. Police checked on the situation and the people inside were housesitting and had permission to be there.
Uniform vs. Barbed Wire Fence: An officer got tangled up in a fence at 3:06 p.m. on August 21 while investigating a call in the 14000 block of Homestead Ave. N.
A Real Cheap Steak: At 5:40 p.m. on August 24 someone called to report some suspicious activity in the 4000 block of 132nd Way N. Two men in a silver Ford were selling steaks for really cheap prices. The men told the officers that they were working the Great Lakes District and had a traveling sales permit with Wisconsin Agriculture that was valid through 2007.
Hard Drive Makes the Drive Harder: A computer hard drive and a business phone were found in a box in the center of Forest Blvd. at 130th on August 25 at 11:04 p.m.
Stranger in the Night: At 2:37 a.m. on August 26 a man walked into a house in the 5700 block of 147th St. N. and asked for someone who didn't live there. The homeowner was using his computer and noticed that the individual was intoxicated. The man tried to start a fight so the homeowner called deputies. The officer on-scene asked the intruding man to leave.
It Don't Mean a Thing If You Ain't Got That Swing Working: Some juveniles vandalized a swing in the new Diamond Point East playground at 145th and Goodview on August 27 at 8:35 p.m. The complainant saw two boys riding away on their bikes but officers were unable to locate the suspects.
Putting the Cart Before The Receipt: On August 28 at 6:30 p.m. an employee of Festival Foods in Hugo reported that two women had attempted to leave the store with two shopping carts full of unpaid groceries. The women left the carts when approached by the employee and left in a minivan with a Wisconsin license plate. A sheriff's deputy tried to contact the registered owner of the van but the phone had been disconnected.
Ruffling Someone's Feathers: At 12:39 p.m. on September 2 some pellets hit a house in the 12000 block of Foxhill Ave. N. The complainant saw a four-door car stop at 130th and an adult male and a juvenile exit the vehicle. The adult was brandishing a shotgun and fired at the home. Police came to the scene to investigate and located a few pheasant feathers but were unable to locate the car or the suspects.
Something Is Up & Must Come Down: Three juveniles were up on the scaffolding in the construction area at Hugo Elementary School on September 2 at 4:23 p.m. Officers asked them what they were doing and the kids said that they were trying to retrieve a scooter. Police advised them to come down and stay away.
Lino Lakes Police Reports
"To Suckle Fools And Chronicle Small Beer": There were six incidents of underage alcohol consumption since we began compiling the Lino Lakes Police Reports.
Up In Arms And Joining Forces: A car stereo and a bag containing military items were stolen from a locked car in the 6000 block of Hodgson Road on August 23 sometime during the night. The unknown suspect broke the rear passenger window to get inside.
In The Box Seat: On August 24 at 1:37 p.m. a driver went off the road in the 1200 block of Holly Drive and struck a Qwest utility box and a Comcast utility box causing significant damage to the vehicle. There were no injuries reported.
Closing Up Shop(lifters): Three juvenile females were arrested for shoplifting, tobacco violation, and possession of drug paraphernalia on August 24 at 6:14 p.m. in the 700 block of Apollo Drive.
Coming Down To The Precinct: At 12:53 p.m. on August 25 a man in the 1200 block of Main Street was arrested for fifth degree possession of methamphetamine, driving after suspension and stop sign violation. He was transported to Anoka County Jail for booking. The same day a woman at 79th St. and Lake Drive was also arrested for meth possession at 2:15 a.m.
Insuring A Citation: At 8:58 a.m. on August 26 a woman in the 400 block of Apollo Drive gave police false information after not being able to provide insurance coverage or a valid Minnesota driver's license.
The Big Bucks: On August 27 a vehicle in the 7100 block of Mourning Dove Road was broken into during the night hours. $6 was removed.
After Hours: On August 28 one juvenile male was cited for a curfew violation that occurred in the 100 block of Gladstone Drive at 1:04 a.m. The teen was released to his parents. On September 2 at 12:22 a.m. four juvenile males were cited for curfew violation in the 6300 block of Painted Turtle Road.
Tanked Up & Moved Out: At an unknown time a twenty pound Blue Rhino propane tank was taken from a yard in the 7900 block of Lake Drive on September 5.
Kid's Stuff: Sometime during evening hours someone entered a locked vehicle in the 700 block of Apollo Drive by breaking a window. They then removed a backpack filled with baby wipes and kids' snacks.
