Hugo Police Reports
On Borrowed Time: A business on Victor Hugo Blvd. N. reported on Nov. 4 that a former employee had been adding extra hours to the timecard for several months. The complainant had warned the employee about it, but when the alleged fraud continued, the complainant filed a report. The suspect had also taken a pair of shoes from the lost and found. Deputies contacted the suspect asking that the shoes be returned.
Going Through The Change: Authorities responded to a burglary report on Nov. 11 at a residence on Illies Ave. N. when the complainant received notice from the alarm company. Deputies found the front door had been pried open with a screwdriver. Some dresser drawers with boxes of change had been pulled out and rummaged through. Only a small amount of change was missing.
Didn’t Leave Well Enough Alone: A resident on 170th St. N. reported a theft of a well pump on Nov. 5. Aft er having a new well installed, the complainant was behind on payments to the company that constructed it, and believes the company came and took the pump. Officers made contact with the company, and advised that they did not have the right to remove the property. They came back and replaced the missing pump.
Road Rage Assault: On Nov. 6 at 6:24 p.m. officers responded to an assault report at a business on Victor Hugo Blvd. N. A motor vehicle had been chased by a BMW motorcycle after making a turn at Oneka Parkway.
The vehicle drove around several blocks and into the parking lot of the business. When the driver emerged from the car, he was assaulted by the person on the motorcycle.
Several witnesses gave reports and a license plate number of the motorcycle, and video surveillance was turned over to offi cers. There were visible marks on the victim’s neck, but no serious injuries. The case is under investigation.
Who Let The Dog Out? (Again): On Nov. 7 officers responded to a dog-at- large complaint at a residence on 132nd St. N. The dog had a collar and tags and was returned to the owner. The owner was advised that the dog had been returned by deputies more than 10 times. A citation was issued.
It Wasn’t A Nice Day: A resident on Europa Tr. N reported vandalism on Nov. 10. Eight large yellow and black smiley faces had been painted on the driveway. There were no suspects. Cost to remove the paint is estimated at $500.
Clearing The Deck: Deputies responded to a theft report on Nov. 15 in the 14000 block of Irish Ave. N. The complainant had rented a home to friends of his niece, and was in the process of evicting them. He discovered that they had taken a freezer and some patio furniture. He requested the offi cer do a walk-through and document the appliances that were still there, for future reference.
Corn Stalker: On Nov. 16 deputies responded to a property damage report at a residence on Forest Blvd. N. The complainant stated that several seasonal outdoor decorations were destroyed, including pumpkins being smashed and corn stalks removed and strewn about. There were no suspects.
Parking Lot Assault: On Nov. 17 at 8:24 p.m. police responded to a robbery and assault report that occurred in the parking lot of a business on Victor Hugo Blvd. N. Officers met the victim at St. John’s Hospital, where he was being treated for injuries. The complainant stated that he had been walking to his car in the parking lot when someone hit him in the face, and then removed $50 in cash and a check card from his pocket. The suspect then left on foot. Surveillance tapes were viewed but a suspect was not identified. The victim received 4-5 stitches, and had a swollen eyebrow and left cheek.

They’ll Have A Higher Price To Pay: Police responded to a theft report at 8:42 p.m. on Oct. 29 in the 600 block of Apollo Dr. when unknown suspect(s) removed merchandise from a business without paying for it.
But They Probably Couldn’t Carry A Tune: Offi cers responded to a report of property damage and theft from a vehicle in the 6000 block of Hodgson Rd. at 11:55 a.m. on Oct. 30. Unknown suspect(s) damaged a fence to gain entry to the vehicle, and removed a car stereo with amplifier.
Irresponsible Parties: Officers responded to a loud party complaint in the 700 block of Vicky Ln. at 1:24 a.m. on Nov. 1. Four adults from Lino Lakes and Maplewood, ages ranging from 18-31, were cited for disorderly conduct.
Can’t Make Heads Or Tails Of It: A resident in the 6900 block of Glenview Ln. reported property damage on Nov. 1 at 12:45 p.m. Someone had damaged a rear tail light on a vehicle parked in the driveway.
His Tooling Around Is Over: On Nov. 4 officers stopped a vehicle in the 1400 block of Main St. at 1:41 a.m. The driver, a 27-year-old Hugo man, was subsequently arrested for felony possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of burglary tools and driving after revocation.
Whoo Made A Break For It?: Officers responded to a property damage report in the 7100 block of Snow Owl Ln. on Nov. 4. The driver’s side back window of a vehicle had been broken sometime during the night hours by an unknown suspect.
His Plans Went Up In Smoke: Officers stopped a vehicle on Nov. 9 at 7:03 p.m. on West Shadow Lake Dr. for failure to stop at a stop sign. They subsequently cited a 17-year-old Lino Lakes male for juvenile possession of tobacco, and a small amount of marijuana. The driver and his passenger were released at the scene.
