Hugo Police Reports

This Doesn't Make You A Hit: There were seven houses shot with paintballs in Hugo since our last publication. Most of the incidents involved orange paint and took place on Feb. 28 but there was one green hit too.

Catching It Early: A suspicious light blue mini-van was reportedly sitting at 132nd St. N. and Isleton Ave. N. at 8:08 a.m. on Feb. 29. It turns out that it was a PCT student pick-up and the driver was early.

Stupidity Isn't A Handicap: There was a parking complaint in the 4800 block of Heritage Pkwy. N. at 3:21 p.m. on Feb. 29. A few vehicles were parked in handicapped spots without proper stickers. All of these spots were open when deputies arrived on-scene.

Some Cool Clothes: Someone dumped four large plastic containers of clothes onto the ice on Egg Lake near lower 147th St. N. at 10:38 a.m. on March 2.

Not So Sharp: Four juveniles were seen cutting down a tree in the 5900 block of Freeland Ct. N. at 8:08 p.m. on March 2. They then threw the knife they were using into the neighbor's yard to dispose of it. The attending officer gave the teens the lowdown on proper knife safety and gave them a warning. There was no reported damage.

Letting Off Some Steam: The Hugo Fire Department called at 9:30 a.m. on March 3 to inform deputies that, though the townhouse being restored in the 13000 block of Flay Ave. N. would appear to be on fire, it would only be steam and they should not be alarmed.

A Sinking Ship Resurfaces: A boat was apparently abandoned at Hugo Auto and Truck Parts at 1:39 p.m. on March 3. The registered owner told police that it had been sold to another party four years ago and that this person had not changed the title over then and had tried to sink the boat in Lake Minnetonka sometime in the last year.

Race To The Bottom: At 1:51 a.m. on March 4 there was a noise complaint in the 13000 block of Keystone Ave. N. Three vehicles were drag racing on School Section Lake.

Nonstop Learning: At 4:14 p.m. on March 4, there was a driving complaint in the 14000 block of Mercantile Dr. N. and a request for extra patrol. Parents were apparently failing to stop at a stop sign on the way to dropping their kids off at a child development center.

Looking For Feedback: An officer placed their microphone pack on the roof of their squad car at 6:46 a.m. on March 6 and lost it somewhere near 140th St. N. on Forest Blvd. N.

Home On The Range: Someone from the 6500 block of 125th St. N. called at 10:31 a.m. on March 8 because they were sick of the noise coming from the nearby shooting range. Police informed this person that the gun club was acting legally and passed this complaint on to the city.

Security Threat: An older white Astro mini-van was parked in a driveway in the 15000 block of Farnham Ave. N. at 8:48 p.m. on March 11 and the driver was asking for someone who lived at the neighbor's house. Police checked the license plates and found that the van belonged to a security company.

Group Assessment: Four to five suspicious-looking juveniles were reportedly walking in the neighborhood in the 15000 block of Foster Dr. N. at 1:52 a.m. on March 15. ("Ides turn back, if I were you!")

Record-Breaking News: Someone filed a noise complaint in the 5000 block of 145th St. N. at 10:33 p.m. on March 15. The adult at the residence explained that their daughter and niece were having a dance party to Hannah Montana. The girls showed some of their moves to the officer and their adult relative explained that they would be going to bed soon.


Lino Lakes Police Reports

Asleep At The Wheel Or Just Semi-Conscious?!: A semi-truck struck the passenger side of a vehicle and continued driving on Apollo Dr. sometime on March 5. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

You Blew Your Chance: A 40-year-old female was arrested in the 700 block of Main St. at 1:14 a.m. on March 8 for fourth degree DWI, illegal U turn, failure to signal and speed. Another DWI arrest occurred that same evening at Main St. and Sunset Rd. at midnight, and a third happened at the junction of I-35E and I-35W at 7:32 p.m. on March 9.

A Leap Of Faith: In the 400 block of I-35W, a driver lost control of their vehicle and entered a ditch due to icy road conditions at 1:27 a.m. on the last day of Feb. in the leap year. No injuries were reported.

Not Small Change, Of Course!: Someone was cited for an illegal change of course at 6:43 p.m. on Feb. 29 in the 7900 block of Lake Dr.
