This Issue's Statistic: There were several complaints about racially-biased fliers being left on cars since our last publication.
Got 'Em On A String: On Jan. 5 someone from the 13000 block of Elmcrest Ave. N. called to report that someone had shot Silly String into her mailbox.
Broke 'N Pa(i)ned: Vandalism to a vehicle occurred between 10:00 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 6 in the 4900 block of Emmit Dr. N. A large rock was thrown through the driver's side window. No items were reported missing.
Off-Target: Someone in the 6800 block of 177th St. N. heard shooting at 8:21 p.m. on Jan. 6. The neighbors regularly practiced target shooting but they said that they had been letting off bottle rockets instead.
Leaving The Door Open: A front door was left open in the 6000 block of 145th St. N. on Jan. 7 at 11:12 p.m. There were no items missing and the door had not been shut securely.
Dog Tired: On Jan. 9 at 6:09 a.m. someone from the 4700 block of Europa Trail N. called to report that there was an injured dog on her front step. She thought that the animal had possibly had a fight with a coyote. She agreed to keep the dog until Animal Control arrived.
Taking It To The Cleaners: Some suspicious activity was reported on Jan. 10 at 8:53 p.m. in a model home in Fable Hill Pkwy. It turned out that the cleaners were getting ready to show the mobile home.
A Not-So-Smooth Job: Two floor sanders, valued at $5400, and a drill, valued at $250, were taken from a business in the 15000 block of Freeland Ave. N. on Jan. 17 at 11:48 a.m. One of the sanders was recovered at a pawn shop in Saint Louis Park. The person who took the goods was believed to be an employee of the business.
A Benefit To All Involved: Extra patrol was requested at 4:27 p.m. on Jan. 18 near the Hugo American Legion on 147th St. N. There were a large number of objects stored outside for a benefit and extra patrol drive-bys were requested throughout the evening.
Public Works Works:On Jan. 19 at 5:59 a.m. Hugo Public Works responded to a broken water main that was pouring into the street in the 5500 block of 145th St. N..
The Energy That Was Expended: Some copper plates were stolen from inside a power supply unit in the 5200 block of 130th St. N. at 12:03 p.m. on Jan. 19.
Shiver Me Timbers: On Jan. 20 at 2:32 p.m. a suspicious man was reported to be standing hunched over outside Carpenter's Steak House on Forest Blvd. N. He told police that his black leather coat had been stolen from the bar inside the restaurant.
Hot To Trot?: There were some loose horses reported at 165th and Elmcrest Ave. N. on Jan. at 5:41 a.m.
Better Safe Than Sorry: At 1:55 p.m. on Jan. 20, a broken safe was reported to have been found sitting in the woods in the 4500 block of Victor Path. It was unclear how long it had been there.
Picture Yourself In Trouble: Some inappropriate pictures were found taped to a front door in the 6100 block of 152nd St. N. at 14 p.m. on Jan. 20.
Sleeping Beauties' Beauty Sleep: There was a noise complaint at 6:30 a.m. on Jan. 22 in the 14000 block of Geneva Way N. The complainant did not want the construction noise to start until 7 a.m. because they had sleeping children. The construction company was notified to comply.

This Issue's Statistic: There were four car-hitting-deer property damage accidents since our last publication.
Braking Down Barriers: On Jan. 10 there was a report that during the last few days someone had driven over the top of a concrete barrier that protected a water well.
More Portable Than They Wanted: On Jan. 10 there was a report filed about a portable toilet being stolen within the last week from the 7100 block of County Road E.
Low Drug Tolerance: A 19-year-old male was arrested in the 6600 block of Clearwater Creek Dr. on Jan. 10 at 2:06 a.m. for possession of a small amount of marijuana. On Jan. 21 at 9:08 p.m. police stopped a suspicious vehicle after watching the car behind some local area businesses. The female driver was arrested for an outstanding warrant for theft and for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Finally, The Whole Package: At 11:02 a.m. on Jan. 10 there was an attempted theft of a UPS package in the 600 block of Andall St. Further investigations by the attending officers linked the 20-year-old male they apprehended with the theft of several other UPS packages. The man was arrested for felony theft.
Leaf The Trees Alone: At 7:58 a.m. on Jan. 11, officers responded to a property damage accident in the 6900 block of Sunrise Drive. Apparently the driver had reached for something in the backseat and missed the turn. He drove up onto the park landscape and ended up destroying some plantings, along with a small tree. No injuries were reported.
Who Let The Dogs Out?: A dog was running around knocking over trash cans in the 2300 block of Tart Lake Road at 11:32 p.m. on Jan. 11. The owner was given a citation.
A Slippery Slope: On Jan. 14 at 10:05 p.m. a driver lost control of the vehicle due to snow and slippery road conditions and slid off the road into a ditch in the 8200 block of I-35W. No injuries were reported. The next day another property damage accident occurred in the 1300 block of I-35W at 6:53 a.m. The car slid off the roadway, rolled over and went into the ditch. No injuries were reported.
Sign Up For Services?:A vehicle slid into a blue gas informational sign in the 900 block of I-35W at 10:01 a.m. on Jan. 15. No injuries were reported.
This Side Of The Dotted Line: A vehicle was making a turn in the 800 block of Main Street at 8:a.m. on Jan. 16 and went into the other lane and struck another vehicle. No injuries were reported but the driver was cited for crossing the center line.
Stop What You Are Doing: A 42-year-old male was cited for a stop sign violation in the 7000 block of 21st Ave. at 1:40 p.m. on Jan. 16.
Pumped To Go:Gasoline worth $30 was stolen when an unknown suspect filled a grey Caravan in the 6500 block of Ware Road at 4:13 p.m. on Jan. 16 and drove away.
To Tender A Fender Bender: Two vehicles collided at 7:38 a.m. on Jan. 17 in the 300 block of Main Street. One of the drivers was cited for inattentive driving but no injuries were reported.
Hot Rod:A 1998 Nissan Maxima was taken from a residence in the 6500 block of Ware Road on Jan. 17.
