Hugo Police Reports

This Issue's Statistic: Since our last publication there were four "leaky load" complaints about untarped semi-trucks hauling gravel at the intersection of 170th St. N. and Henna Ave. Police issued one commercial vehicle violation for loss of sand.

Not A Happy Camper: On July 13 at 6:54 a.m. someone from the 13000 block of Geneva Ave. N. called to report that a juvenile had camped in their yard outside of their daughter's bedroom window. The complainant told police that the male had left on a bicycle. Officers were unable to locate the youth.

Mindboggling Mudbogging: Police were called to investigate a noise complaint at 2:39 a.m. in the 5100 block of 165th St. N. on July 14. They found a truck driving around in a field with two men riding in it, one of them intoxicated. The two individuals said that they were "mudbogging."

To Take A Chair: At 10 p.m. on July 17 four juveniles were seen throwing fold-up chairs at the door of Hugo Elementary School on Francesca Ave. N. The complainant said that three of the teens were wearing dark T's and one was wearing a white buttonup shirt. Police located the youths and they denied doing the vandalism. The complainant wanted to remain confidential and did not want to identify the individuals. The police escorted them to their parents' homes.

In Hot Water: At 6:11 p.m. on July 20 someone in the 14000 block of Foxhill Ave. N. called to let police know that her neighbor was violating the water ban. The accused explained that the ban was voluntary and that their neighbor had called in because they did not get along. [After checking with the city of Hugo Public Works Department, we report that watering restrictions are not voluntary, and were mandated by city ordinance in May 2001.]

Get the Picture?: A photo of a woman "in the altogether" [hey! this is a family paper!] was found in a mailbox in the 5000 block of 159th St. N. on July 21 at 2:30 p.m. The mailbox owner and the neighbors who shared the mailbox cluster did not know the woman.

Cleaner Than Just A Whistle: Someone in the 13000 block was cleaning with the music up too loud on July 21 at 3:05 p.m. Police asked the person to turn down the tunes.

Putting One's Pride In One's Pocket: On July 22 at 10:51 a.m. someone from the 12000 block of Falcon Ave. N. called to report that the flag on their mailbox had been stolen. It was worth $6.

Through Fire and Water: A fire hydrant at 150th St. and Generation Ave. N. was leaking at 6:33 a.m. on July 23. It appeared to have been tampered with but police were unable to get a tread pattern from the footprint. Public Works was contacted.

A Tacky Thief: One fifteeninch saddle and one twelve-inch saddle were stolen from an unlocked tack room of a barn in the 9000 block of 152nd St. N. The theft occurred over two months ago but it was reported on July 23 at 11:03 a.m.

Gunning For Answers: Someone broke through a glass slider in the backside of someone's home in the 9000 block of 152nd St. N. on July 23. The thief stole a 12 gauge Remington, worth $500, a 30/30, and a .22 rifle, worth over $300. The complainant was sure they were in possession of the serial numbers.
